What it is

Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous is a very large indoor restaurant done as a circus tent, with striped fabric, ringmaster signage and - the good bit - the Seuss Trolley Train passing right through the upper part of the room on its track. Children stop eating every time it goes by, which is either charming or a logistical problem depending on your schedule.

The food is fried chicken, spaghetti and meatballs, pizza and salads, cooked to standard theme park counter quality. It is unremarkable and it is inoffensive, which is roughly the right target for the audience in this island.

The room's real function is capacity. It is the largest air-conditioned dining space on the Seuss Landing side of the park and it rarely fills, which makes it the correct place to put a hot, overstimulated four-year-old at 2 PM.

Our verdict

Ordinary food in the most useful room in Seuss Landing. The trolley train passing through the ceiling buys it more goodwill than the fried chicken does.

Tips for Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous

  • Sit under the trolley track. The train passes through the room overhead and it is the best thing about eating here.
  • This is the largest air-conditioned room on this side of the park and it rarely fills. Use it as a break as well as a meal.
  • Nothing on the menu is worth crossing the park for. Eat here because you are already in Seuss Landing with a tired child.
  • Mobile order is worth using at peak, though the queue here is milder than at Hogsmeade or Jurassic Park.

Fried Chicken Platter

Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous

$15.99

Fried chicken with a side and a roll, served in the big-top dining hall where the Seuss trolley train passes overhead.

Our take: Adequate counter fried chicken. You are eating here for the air conditioning, the space and the trolley overhead, and that is a fair trade with a tired four-year-old.

Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous: common questions

Does the Seuss trolley really go through the restaurant?

Yes. The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride! passes through the upper part of the Circus McGurkus building on its circuit, which is visible from the dining room and is the single best piece of theming in the restaurant.

Is Circus McGurkus good for toddlers?

It is the best option in the park for them. Large air-conditioned room, plenty of space for a stroller, simple food that a picky child will eat, and something happening overhead. It rarely fills, so it works as a rest stop as well as a meal.
